Lujain Altawarah leads the development and coordination of CCLR’s programming, overseeing the planning, promotion, and execution of events and webinars. A UCLA graduate with a double major in Political Science and Arabic, and a concentration in International Relations, Lujain began her career in sustainability during her second year of college. Since then, she’s coordinated numerous initiatives focused on climate resilience and community empowerment.
Lujain organizes major conferences such as CCLR’s annual California Land Recycling Conference, state brownfield workshops, and interactive webinars, developing engaging content and ensuring the sessions are impactful and aligned with key objectives. She provides tailored technical assistance to support CCLR’s Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) program for EPA R9 and R10 and the R9 TCTAC, Center for Community Energy and Environmental Justice (CCEEJ), supporting sustainable redevelopment projects and helping communities access and navigate fundamental redevelopment resources.
In addition, Lujain coordinates a wide range of community engagement initiatives, collaborating with national and regional stakeholders, nonprofit organizations, and environmental advocates. She also presents at key national and regional conferences and events, sharing her knowledge in land recycling, environmental justice, and equitable development.
